Power Profile

Shearwater II
Yanmar Australia

Another successful repower replacing old 330HP Cummins engines with latest technology electronic common rail engines from YANMAR, coupled to Twin Disc Quickshift Gearboxes using EC300 Quickshift controls.

The vessel is operated by National Parks & Wildlife for patrolling operations around Montague Island from their base in Narooma NSW.

With the new engines, they have halved the time it takes to get out to the island with no increase in fuel consumption.  With the Quickshift controls, the vessel easily handles the tricky sea conditions operating around Montague Island when docking at the wharf.

The YANMAR engines give everything National Parks were looking for reliability, improved fuel economy and increase vessel operational performance, which the YANMAR 6LY400 delivers.
