The vessel was built in Townsville by Peter Obrien in 1998. Originally powered by Cummins it was re-powered in 2011 with a pair of YANMAR 6CX-GTEs 500mhp at 2900rpm propulsion engines and had been operating in the commercial game fishing industry since that time. The 6CX-GTE2’s were still operating extremely well after completing 14,500 hours service. Customer decided to re-power the vessel with the new 6CXBM-GT’s (S) commercial propulsion engines at the same time as the vessel underwent a major refit prior to starting the 2019 game fishing season operating out of Cairns.
