Continuing YANMAR’s legacy of precision engineering and on-water innovation, this third-generation control platform has been developed entirely in-house to meet today’s expectations for smarter, more connected boating.
The VC30 and JC30(Z) bring refined design, intuitive functionality, and advanced integration to deliver a smoother, more responsive boating experience. These new systems replace the highly regarded VC20, JC10(A), and JC20(A) models, which have served customers reliably since 2020.
Key Features and Innovations
The VC30 and JC30(Z) systems introduce several major upgrades designed to enhance control, installation simplicity, and performance.
Key features of the all-new VC30 & JC30(Z) include:
- Modern 4.3” Display: A new optically bonded, 1000 cd sunlight-readable screen with a clean, contemporary design and direct NMEA2000 output for simple MFD connection.
- Refined Joystick Design: A redesigned joystick with integrated buttons and a matching aesthetic to the new control head.
- Simplified Architecture: Fewer components — with Helm, Drive, Joystick ECUs and EPV Driver combined into a single industrial-grade marine ECU.
- Streamlined Installation: Compact wiring and connectors make for faster, more efficient installation — even in tighter spaces.
- Versatile Compatibility: Designed for single, twin, and triple engine installations, controllable from up to four helm stations.
- Optimised for the JH-CR Series: Fewer components, same professional YANMAR look and feel.
- Enhanced Yanmar Position Assist (YPA) Location: Improved positoning on JC30Z while keeping the functionality (requires GNSS Compass).
- Autopilot Integration on JC30Z: Seamless compatibility with leading autopilot systems from Garmin, Raymarine, Furuno, and Simrad.
Applications and Compatibility
The new VC30 and JC30(Z) systems are engineered for flexibility across a wide range of vessels and propulsion configurations.
- VC30: Compatible with YANMAR common-rail marine diesel engines across sailboat, powerboat, and light commercial applications — including JH-CR, 4LV, 8LV, 6LY-CR, 6LF, and 6LT series.
- JC30: Suitable for single, twin, and triple engine setups, compatible with VETUS BOWPRO and Sleipner eVision thrusters.
- JC30Z: Specifically designed for twin or triple sterndrive (ZT370 with E-Shift) installations.
Simplified System Architecture
The VC30 platform reduces complexity by consolidating multiple components into a single, compact ECU — streamlining both installation and serviceability compared to the previous VC20 system.
VC30 System Configuration
Each installation requires an Engine Base Kit, a Station Kit, and the relevant harnesses and control heads. Components can be selected according to the vessel type and configuration to ensure seamless integration.
Engine Base Kits
Each base kit includes a Marine ECU, drive harnesses, terminators, and backup panels.
Engine-specific kits are available for:
- JH-CR engine base kits
- JH-CR sail drive (SD60) engine base kits
- JH-CR ‘’Basic / Lite’’ engine base kits
- JH-CR ‘’Basic / Lite’’ saildrive (SD60) engine base kits
- 4LV, 8LV, and 6LY engine base kits
- 4LV and 8LV sterndrive engine base kits
- 6LF 12V engine base kits
- 6LF 24V engine base kits
- 6LT 24V engine base kits
Station Kits
Station kits consist of display(s), station harness(es), and switch panel(s). The available Station Kits are as follows:

VC30 Display Kit (for Mechanical Controlled engines)
For JH-CR, 4LV, and 6LY engines without a vessel control system, YANMAR offers a dedicated VC30 Display Kit.
This includes a harness, VC30 display (with NMEA2000 output), and start/stop panel.
JC30(Z) Joystick Options
Components vary by installation to complete the JC30 Joystick system
- JC30: For shaft-driven installations
- JC30Z: For sterndrive installations
