"Hooked on New Yanmar BY Series Diesel Power"

"For my demo unit at Hooker Boats I selected the latest release Yanmar 6BY marine diesel sterndrive.  This engine has the most up-to-date technology electronic engine management system and advanced drive by wire controls.

Diesel engines today are nothing like their old counterparts.  Yanmar’s BY series are light weight, very quiet and have low emissions.  Technically they have advanced twin overhead camshafts and a 24 valve cylinder head.

Smooth, reliable, quiet…. and powerful.

With 260mhp at the flywheel, the new Yanmar  6BY-260Z pushes the Hooker 8M WRC unit to a top speed of 35 knots effortlessly, even under very tropical sea water and ambient conditions. At a very economical  cruise speed of 26knots (3300rpm) the engine is so under stressed that I reckon it will last forever.

Compared to the 4 stroke gasoline outboards on the same hull the Yanmar 6BY-260Z impressive torque combined with a large 19.5”diameter propeller is simply awesome. It guarantees the Yanmar powered package is the first to the fishing grounds and last at the fuel pump every time!
