Yanmar Saves Me 50,000 litres of Fuel A Year

Dive operator Andy Wright had the ideal dive charter boat but his tired old 8 vee 4 cycle engines were expensive to run, burning up 650 litres of diesel every day.

“We go to sea 300 days a year with divers; in a year all 10,000 of them.
I simply can’t afford to have any reliability issues with the Calypso charter operation, let alone engines with high operating costs.

After re-powering Calypso II with a pair of Yanmar 6HYM-ETE engines, my fuel costs have been slashed from 80 litres per hour per engine to 60 litres per hour – that’s a saving of 25% or 50,000 litres of diesel a year.
